چکیده
In this paper, we present a method for constructing Loop’s subdivision surface patches with given G boundary conditions and a given topology of control polygon, using several fourth-order geometric partial differential equations. These equations are solved by a mixed finite element method in a function space defined by the extended Loop’s subdivision scheme. The method is flexible to the shape of the boundaries, and there is no limitation on the number of boundary curves and on the topology of the control polygon. Several properties for the basis functions of the finite element space are developed.

متن کاملG 1 B - Spline Surface Construction By Geometric Partial Differential Equations ∗
In this paper, we propose a dynamic B-spline technique using general form fourth order geometric PDEs. Basing on discretizaions of Laplace-Beltrami operator and Gaussian curvature over triangular and quadrilateral meshes and their convergence analysis, we propose in this paper a novel approach for constructing geometric PDE B-spline surfaces, using general form fourth order geometric flows. Fou...
متن کاملConstruction of minimal subdivision surface with a given boundary
The fascinating characters of minimal surface make it to be widely used in the shape design. While the flexibility and high quality of subdivision surface make it to be a powerful mathematical tool for shape representation. In this paper, we construct minimal subdivision surfaces with given boundaries using the mean curvature flow, a second order geometric partial differential equation. This eq...
متن کاملConversion of Trimmed NURBS Surfaces to Untrimmed Catmull-Clark Subdivision Surfaces
We introduce a novel method to convert trimmed NURBS surfaces to untrimmed subdivision surfaces with Bézier edge conditions. We take a NURBS surface and its trimming curves as input, from this we automatically compute a base mesh, the limit surface of which fits the trimmed NURBS surface to a specified tolerance. We first construct the topology of the base mesh by performing a cross-field based...
متن کاملGenerating Fair Meshes with G1 Boundary Conditions
In this paper we present a new algorithm to create fair discrete surfaces satisfying prescribed G1 boundary constraints. All surfaces are built by discretizing a partial differential equation based on pure geometric intrinsics. The construction scheme is designed to produce meshes that are partitioned into regular domains. Using this knowledge in advance we can develop a fast iterative algorith...
